Time and attendance

Time and attendance software with nothing to install

Omega People records when your staff clock in and out, turns it into timesheets and counts the overtime. People clock in from their own page in the browser, from a personal link or at a tablet by the door. At month end the hours go to your payroll software as a file. There is nothing to install and nothing to download from a store.

Ways to clock in

Three ways to clock in, all of them in a browser

Their own page

Employees sign in on their phone or computer and clock in and out from their page. The same page shows their hours, shifts and leave.

A personal link

For people who don’t want another password: a link that is theirs alone, with no account to create.

A kiosk at the entrance

A web page on a tablet by the door. People type their badge code or hold their badge’s QR code up to the camera, with an optional personal PIN.

Printable badges

Print a badge with a code and a QR for each person straight from the product.

Offline queue

If the tablet loses its connection, badge clock-ins are queued and sent when it comes back.

The time, not the place

Clocking in from the browser records the time, not where you are. No location is collected.

Timesheets

Timesheets that need checking, not rebuilding

Each clock-in lands on the person’s timesheet. The rules you set do the tidying that usually takes an afternoon at month end:

  • Rounding and tolerance: a few minutes early or late don’t become a dispute.
  • Automatic break deduction: the break is taken off the day by rule. Breaks are not clocked one by one.
  • Forgotten clock-outs are closed automatically, and flagged.
  • Corrections: the employee asks for a change, gives the reason, and someone approves it. Nobody edits their own hours unseen.
  • Overtime: daily and weekly thresholds, with approval if you want it, paid or put into a time bank to take back as time off in lieu (TOIL).
  • Hours by project: time can be recorded against a project and a client.

Working-time checks belong to the rota: when you plan shifts, it warns you about daily and weekly rest, maximum weekly hours and consecutive days.

Country rules

Working-time limits and overtime, by country

The thresholds that turn clocked hours into overtime start from your country’s rules. You can set daily and weekly thresholds of your own.

CountryWeekly limitOvertime startsRate
United Kingdom48 hours, on average, unless the worker opts outSet by the contractYou set the rate
United StatesNo federal capOver 40 hours a week (federal rule; some states add daily overtime)1.5× by default
Canada48 hours, in the federal sector; provinces set their ownOver 40 hours a week (federal rule; provinces vary)1.5× by default
Australia38 hoursOver 38 hours a weekYou set the rate
New ZealandNo national cap: the employment agreement sets the hoursSet by the employment agreementYou set the rate
Switzerland45 hours, higher for some sectorsOver 45 hours a week1.25× by default

The country rules were last reviewed against official sources on 5 October 2026. They are a starting point, not legal advice: contracts, awards and collective agreements can differ, and you can change every value. Omega People counts the overtime hours; the pay for them is worked out by your payroll software.

Month end

A file for payroll, not another payroll system

Omega People does not run payroll: it does not calculate tax, social security or net pay, and it does not produce statutory payslips or filings. What it does is prepare the month: one file with ordinary hours, overtime, absences with their codes, shift premiums and approved expenses.

Export it as a plain CSV, in a layout you define, or in a layout made for a named payroll product. For the United Kingdom these are Sage 50 Payroll, Xero Payroll UK, BrightPay, QuickBooks Payroll UK; each country has its own list. These are file layouts you upload, not live connections.

When the payslips come back as one PDF, upload it: it is split and matched to employees, and each person finds their own in their documents. Time and attendance is included in the price of £35 a month for up to 25 employees, excluding tax.

Questions

What people ask us about this

Does Omega People run payroll?

No. It does not calculate tax, social security or net pay, and it does not produce statutory payslips or filings. It prepares the month instead: a file with ordinary hours, overtime, absences, shift premiums and approved expenses, as a CSV or in a layout for your payroll software, which you or your accountant upload there.

Do employees need to install anything to clock in?

No. Clocking in works in the browser on any phone or computer, from a personal link with no account, or at a tablet kiosk at the entrance using a badge code or a badge QR code. The Omega People app for iPhone and Android is being published on the App Store and Google Play right now.

How much does time and attendance software cost?

Omega People costs £35 a month for up to 25 employees, £69 for up to 75 and £119 for up to 200, excluding tax. The price is per company, with every module included, and there is no charge per kiosk, per manager or per employee. The first month is free.

What happens if someone forgets to clock out?

The open clock-in is closed automatically and flagged on the timesheet. The employee can request a correction with the real time and a reason, and it takes effect once it is approved.
