Personio alternative

A Personio alternative with the whole price list published

Omega People is HR software priced per company, with the full price list on the website: £35 a month for up to 25 employees and £69 for up to 75, with recruiting, performance reviews, surveys and a speak-up channel included. Personio’s website says its price starts from €7.60 per employee per month; the actual figure is a quote after a demo, plus a one-time set-up fee. Personio runs payroll in Germany only; Omega People does not run payroll at all, and hands a file to your payroll software.

In short

What changes compared with Personio

  • You can read the price before you talk to anyone. Personio publishes a “starts from” figure of €7.60 per employee per month and quotes the rest after a demo, with a one-time set-up fee that depends on company size. Omega People is £35 a month for up to 25 employees, £69 for up to 75, £119 for up to 200 and £179 for up to 500, excluding tax, with no set-up fee.
  • No paid apps. In Personio, Recruiting, Performance, Surveys and Whistleblowing are apps you pay for on top of Core. In Omega People hiring, review cycles, engagement surveys and the speak-up channel are in every band, along with the rota, the on-site kiosk and expenses.
  • Leave when you like. Personio’s monthly contract needs 15 days’ notice before renewal and the annual contract 90 days. Omega People can be cancelled at any time, with no notice period and no penalty.
  • Six countries with their own rules. The UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland each have their leave types, public holidays, working-time limits and payroll export layouts, and a published price in local currency.
  • What Personio has that Omega People doesn’t: payroll for Germany, a mobile app, more than 200 integrations and an API, single sign-on with Okta or Microsoft Entra ID, and workforce planning. If those matter, read “when to stay” below.

Personio: the website gives “starts from €7.60 per employee per month” for Core, in euros, and the actual price by quote after a demo. The third column only multiplies that line by the headcount at the top of each band, so it is the lowest the vendor’s own wording allows, not what you would pay. There is 10% off for paying a year upfront, and the Swiss site shows no price. Checked on 5 October 2026.

From Personio to Omega People

Moving your employee records across

One spreadsheet with one row per person is enough to start. You decide what to bring; the rest stays where it is until you no longer need it.

How to move across

  1. Export your employee list, or a report of employee records, as CSV or Excel from Personio.
  2. Open the file and check it has a header row and one row per person. Save it as .csv or .xlsx (the older .xls format is not read).
  3. In Omega People, go to Employees › Import and choose the file. The columns are recognised automatically from their headings, in English, German or French.
  4. Do the dry run first: it shows what the import would do before anything is written. Then import. If the result is not what you expected, undo the import and try again.

What comes across to Omega People

  • Names and contact details
  • Job title, department, site and manager
  • Contract type, working hours and start date
  • Salary and employee number
  • National ID and bank details
  • The opening annual-leave balance, so nobody’s remaining days are lost

What stays behind

  • Documents and signed files: they are not part of the import
  • Absence and attendance history: bring the balance, and keep the history as an export
  • Performance reviews and goals from past cycles
  • Payroll history and past payslips

Run both for a month

Keep Personio until one full month, from the first clock-in to the payroll file, has gone through Omega People. If a column in your file is not recognised, write to us from the contact page: support answers by email, Monday to Friday.

Honestly

When it makes sense to stay with Personio

Personio is built for mid-sized European companies and does several things Omega People does not. Stay if:

  • you have a German entity and want payroll run inside your HR system;
  • you have 200 to 1,000 employees or more and several legal entities to manage in one structure;
  • your IT policy requires single sign-on, or you connect HR to other systems through an API and integrations;
  • you use workforce planning, or your people rely on the mobile app.

Omega People makes sense for a company of up to 500 people that wants to know the price in advance, does not want to buy recruiting or reviews separately, and would rather not sign a contract with a notice period. It also covers the UK, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland with their own rules.

Questions

What people ask us about this

What is a good Personio alternative for small businesses?

Omega People is HR software with employee records, leave, time and attendance, rota, expenses, recruiting, performance reviews, surveys and a speak-up channel in one price per company: £35 a month for up to 25 employees, £69 for up to 75, £119 for up to 200 and £179 for up to 500, excluding tax. There is no set-up fee and no notice period. It does not run payroll.

How much does Personio cost?

Personio does not publish a full price list. According to its website, checked on 5 October 2026, the price starts from €7.60 per employee per month for Core, and the actual price is quoted after a demo. There is a one-time set-up fee that depends on company size, and 10% off for paying a year upfront. Recruiting, Performance, Surveys and Whistleblowing are paid apps.

Does Omega People run payroll like Personio?

No. Personio Payroll runs payroll in Germany only, and Personio Core includes preliminary payroll. Omega People does not calculate tax or net pay in any country: it prepares the month and exports a file for your payroll software, in a generic CSV or a layout for a named product (in the UK: Sage 50 Payroll, Xero Payroll UK, BrightPay, QuickBooks Payroll UK).

Can I move my employee data from Personio?

Yes. Export your employee list from Personio as CSV or Excel, then use Employees › Import in Omega People. Columns are recognised automatically in English, German and French, a dry run shows the result before anything is written, and the import can be undone. Documents, absence history and past reviews are not part of the import.
