BambooHR alternative

A BambooHR alternative with one price per company

Omega People is HR software for companies of 5 to 500 people, priced per company rather than per employee: £35 a month for up to 25 employees, in pounds sterling, with attendance, rota, expenses and the employment rules of six countries included. BambooHR prices per employee in US dollars and sells time and attendance and payroll as add-ons. Omega People does not run payroll and has no app-store app: both are covered honestly below.

In short

What changes compared with BambooHR

  • The price does not rise with each hire. BambooHR lists Core at US$10 and Pro at US$17 per employee per month, with a flat monthly rate for 25 employees or fewer. Omega People is £35 a month for up to 25 employees, £69 for up to 75, £119 for up to 200 and £179 for up to 500, excluding tax.
  • Time clock and rota are in the price. In BambooHR, scheduling, the time clock kiosk and overtime rules are the Time & Attendance add-on, whose price is not published. In Omega People clocking in, timesheets, overtime, the on-site kiosk and shift planning are in every band.
  • Rules for six countries, not one. Each company picks its country and gets that country’s leave types, statutory minimums, public holidays and working-time limits: the UK statutory minimum of 28 days’ annual leave, for instance, or the statutory minimum of 4 weeks in Australia and 4 in New Zealand.
  • Billed in your currency. BambooHR has one price list in US dollars worldwide. Omega People publishes prices in pounds sterling, US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand dollars, and Swiss francs.
  • What BambooHR has that Omega People doesn’t: payroll with tax filing and benefits administration for US employees (both add-ons), iPhone and Android apps, a marketplace of more than 150 integrations, 360 feedback and compensation benchmarking. Omega People prepares the payroll month and hands a file to the payroll software you already use.

From BambooHR to Omega People

Moving your employee records across

One spreadsheet with one row per person is enough to start. You decide what to bring; the rest stays where it is until you no longer need it.

How to move across

  1. Export your employee list, or a report of employee records, as CSV or Excel from BambooHR.
  2. Open the file and check it has a header row and one row per person. Save it as .csv or .xlsx (the older .xls format is not read).
  3. In Omega People, go to Employees › Import and choose the file. The columns are recognised automatically from their headings, in English, German or French.
  4. Do the dry run first: it shows what the import would do before anything is written. Then import. If the result is not what you expected, undo the import and try again.

What comes across to Omega People

  • Names and contact details
  • Job title, department, site and manager
  • Contract type, working hours and start date
  • Salary and employee number
  • National ID and bank details
  • The opening annual-leave balance, so nobody’s remaining days are lost

What stays behind

  • Documents and signed files: they are not part of the import
  • Absence and attendance history: bring the balance, and keep the history as an export
  • Performance reviews and goals from past cycles
  • Payroll history and past payslips

Run both for a month

Keep BambooHR until one full month, from the first clock-in to the payroll file, has gone through Omega People. If a column in your file is not recognised, write to us from the contact page: support answers by email, Monday to Friday.

Honestly

When it makes sense to stay with BambooHR

BambooHR is a long-established HR system, and for some companies it is the better fit. Stay if:

  • you are a US company that wants payroll and HR from one vendor, with tax filing and benefits administration;
  • you depend on ready-made integrations with other business software;
  • your people expect native apps on their phones;
  • you use 360 feedback or compensation benchmarking.

Omega People makes sense when the per-employee bill is the problem, when you need a time clock and a rota without pricing an add-on, or when you employ people outside the US and want their country’s rules set up from day one. The first month is free and no card is needed, so you can test it with real records.

Questions

What people ask us about this

What is a good BambooHR alternative for small businesses?

Omega People is HR software with employee records, leave, time and attendance, rota, expenses, hiring, performance reviews and document signing. It is priced per company, not per employee: £35 a month for up to 25 employees, £69 for up to 75, £119 for up to 200 and £179 for up to 500, excluding tax. Every module is in every band. It does not run payroll.

How much does BambooHR cost?

According to the price list on the BambooHR website, checked on 5 October 2026: Core US$10, Pro US$17 and Elite US$25 per employee per month, in US dollars. For 25 employees or fewer there is a flat monthly rate: US$250, US$425 and US$650. The questions section of the same page quotes US$10.25 and US$17.50. The Time & Attendance add-on is priced by quote.

Does Omega People run payroll like BambooHR?

No. BambooHR sells payroll as an add-on for US employees. Omega People does not calculate tax or net pay and makes no filings: it prepares the month, with ordinary hours, overtime, absences and approved reimbursements, and exports a file in a generic CSV or in a layout for a named payroll product (in the US: Gusto, ADP Workforce Now, RUN Powered by ADP, Paychex Flex, QuickBooks Payroll, Rippling). Payslips produced elsewhere can be uploaded so each employee finds theirs.

Is there an Omega People mobile app?

The Omega People app for iPhone and Android is being published on the App Store and Google Play right now. Until then, employees use Omega People in the browser on their phone: they clock in and out, request leave, see their rota and open their documents and payslips, with nothing to install. If you need native apps today, BambooHR already has them.
