Factorial alternative

A Factorial alternative with every module in the price

Omega People is HR software where leave, time tracking, shift planning, expenses, recruiting and performance reviews all come in one price per company: £35 a month for up to 25 employees, excluding tax. Factorial is modular: its website gives a “starts at” price per user (£5.40 in the UK, US$8 in the US) and a tailored quote for the modules you choose. On its UK and US sites Factorial, too, describes payroll as preparation rather than a pay run.

In short

What changes compared with Factorial

  • One price, not a basket of modules. In Factorial, Time Off, Time Tracking, Shift Management, Performance, Recruitment, Expenses and Training are separate modules priced by quote on top of Factorial Core. In Omega People they are all in every band: £35 a month for up to 25 employees, £69 for up to 75, £119 for up to 200 and £179 for up to 500, excluding tax.
  • Per company, not per user. Factorial’s “starts at” figure is per user per month. Omega People’s price stays the same until you cross a band, and managers and HR admins are not counted separately.
  • Prices for the countries Factorial does not list. Factorial has no pricing page for Switzerland, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. Omega People publishes a price and a set of country rules for each of them, as well as for the UK and the US.
  • Payroll is prepared, not run, in both. Omega People prepares the month and exports a file for your payroll software. Factorial’s UK and US sites describe its payroll feature as preparation and review, with integrations to payroll providers.
  • What Factorial has that Omega People doesn’t: iPhone and Android apps with geolocation on clock-in, expenses with corporate cards, procurement and IT device management, and localisation for Spain and Southern Europe.

Factorial: the UK site says “starts at £5.40 per user per month” and the US site US$8; the German site gives €8. The actual price is a tailored quote that depends on the modules you add. The Factorial columns only multiply the “starts at” line by headcount: they are the lowest the vendor’s own wording allows, not what you would pay with time off, time tracking or shifts added. From Factorial to Omega People

Moving your employee records across

One spreadsheet with one row per person is enough to start. You decide what to bring; the rest stays where it is until you no longer need it.

How to move across

  1. Export your employee list, or a report of employee records, as CSV or Excel from Factorial.
  2. Open the file and check it has a header row and one row per person. Save it as .csv or .xlsx (the older .xls format is not read).
  3. In Omega People, go to Employees › Import and choose the file. The columns are recognised automatically from their headings, in English, German or French.
  4. Do the dry run first: it shows what the import would do before anything is written. Then import. If the result is not what you expected, undo the import and try again.

What comes across to Omega People

  • Names and contact details
  • Job title, department, site and manager
  • Contract type, working hours and start date
  • Salary and employee number
  • National ID and bank details
  • The opening annual-leave balance, so nobody’s remaining days are lost

What stays behind

  • Documents and signed files: they are not part of the import
  • Absence and attendance history: bring the balance, and keep the history as an export
  • Performance reviews and goals from past cycles
  • Payroll history and past payslips

Run both for a month

Keep Factorial until one full month, from the first clock-in to the payroll file, has gone through Omega People. If a column in your file is not recognised, write to us from the contact page: support answers by email, Monday to Friday.

Honestly

When it makes sense to stay with Factorial

Factorial covers more ground than HR, and its modular pricing suits a company that wants only part of it. Stay if:

  • you want expenses with corporate cards, procurement or IT device management in the same tool as HR;
  • your people need native apps, or you want a location recorded when they clock in;
  • you employ people in Spain or Southern Europe and rely on Factorial’s localisation there;
  • you need one or two modules only and the quote for those is lower than a band that includes everything.

Omega People makes sense when you would end up adding most of the modules anyway, when you want to know next year’s bill without asking for a new quote, or when you are in a country Factorial has no price list for.

Questions

What people ask us about this

What is a good Factorial alternative for small businesses?

Omega People is HR software with employee records, leave, time tracking, shift planning, expenses, recruiting, performance reviews and training in one price per company: £35 a month for up to 25 employees, £69 for up to 75, £119 for up to 200 and £179 for up to 500, excluding tax. Nothing is sold as a separate module. It does not run payroll.

How much does Factorial HR cost?

Factorial does not publish a full price list. According to its websites, checked on 5 October 2026, the price starts at US$8 per user per month on the US site and £5.40 on the UK site, and the actual price is a tailored quote. Time Off, Time Tracking, Shift Management, Performance, Recruitment, Expenses and Training are separate modules priced by quote.

Does Omega People run payroll like Factorial?

Omega People does not run payroll, and on its UK and US sites Factorial describes its own payroll feature as preparation and review, with integrations to payroll providers. Omega People prepares the month, with hours, overtime, absences and approved reimbursements, and exports a file in a generic CSV or in a layout for a named payroll product. Tax, net pay and filings stay with your payroll software or accountant.

Does Omega People have a mobile app like Factorial?

No. Factorial has iPhone and Android apps. Omega People runs in the browser on any phone, with nothing to install: employees clock in and out, request leave, see their shifts, submit expenses with a photo of the receipt and open their documents. Clocking in does not record a location.
